A Ken For All Seasons…

Barbie makers Mattel unveiled a new line of Kens this week, taking social (and traditional) media by storm.  The 15 new Ken dolls – which are available in 3 body types (slim, slimmer and slimmest) and have more looks than ever before – including a man bun, cornrows, freckles and Barista with a Screenplay – were fêted by the brand to “provide endless storytelling possibilities!”

What We Like

Updating a product with such a prominent history and devoted fanbase is never going to be easy, but Mattel’s launch assets (notably high-end photography) led to some great splashes across lifestyle titles – including a spread in GQ! It’s been a viral sensation, too, and been embraced (and promoted) by fans and non-fans alike – top job Mattel.
